Sydney’s Opera House will become large canvas for three-week special music event, Luminous, curated by renowned British musician Brian Eno.
The festival started May 26 and will run till June 14.

Zlota44 is new 54-story high rise in Warsaw, Poland by the architect, Daniel Libeskind. This curved glass building is 630 ft (192 m ) high with 251 luxury apartments, retail, and amenity floor.

The Art Institute of Chicago is opening the Modern Wing, a sliver LEED certified, in little more than 2 weeks. (May 16, 2009). The Wing is designed by Pritzker Prize-winner, Renzo Piano.

The import issues to design a museum is about lighting. To show the arts, it needs light, but too much of natural lighting can harm the art pieces. The ‘Flying Carpet’ roof will take care little bit of this issue by automated dimming technology that filter the light.

The steel of the Nichols Bridgeway connects the museum with the Millennium Park.

Renzo Piano also built the California Academy of Sciences building in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park and my recent favorite building New York Times building in New York.

C-1 House in Tokyo, designed by architects, Gwenael Nicolas from Curiosity, and Tomoyuki Ustumi from Milligram Studio in 2005.

Designer like the word, minimalism. However, Curiosity & Milligra Studio seem to defined the word with this simple Japanese design.

Jodlowa House designed by PCKO Architects in co-operation with MOFO Architects of Krakow, Poland. This house shows modern natural living with fully glazed steel frame structure which brings in natural sun light and outdoor environment. The steel frame structure is suspended above the ground to reduce the construction on base. The house is built with a five-story stone tower and a tree which also adds the nature into the modern architecture.

Starbucks US has chosen the store with best interior design. It’s Korea’s 268th store in SK-Telecom, country’s largest mobile telecommunications operator. Starbucks has its unique design but SK Tower store used purple color, walnut, water pond, etc.
Customers can choose and pay with their mobile technology. The large screen shows media art, SK Telecom’s music, movies contents, shopping channel, IPTV, and also games.

the architect, FORM/Kouichi Kimura Architects, shows the minimalism with layers of mono color. The design of the house bring exterior to interior and interior to exterior.

Spanish firm Abalos+Sentkiewicz Arquitectos received third prize for the competition.
This building reminds me of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim Museum in New York.
